10 Most Impacting Technologies of 2010’s

Soo much to think! So much to write! So much to speak of! This usually is the emotion of almost any person who is tech-savvy and has been following the techno-trends since the last 7 years (if to speak correctly regarding the current decade). Anyways, what we will be going to explore in this brief narrative are the 10 most impacting technologies that are, if not founded, but came to full fruition in 2010’s of the Gregorian calendar (quick fact: Gregorian calendar system was devised by Pope Gregory XIII of Roman Catholic Church). Anyways, I was again being distracted from my focus: Let’s get to know the 10 most impacting technologies of 2010’s with ease and grace.

The Internet of Things (IoT) Technology -:

The Internet of Things Technology

Well, we might seem a bit biased by placing IoT on top of this list, but you have to understand that IoT is the field in which we have dedicated the last 15 years of our professional to-dos. OK! Let’s face it; putting IoT at the top does merit the technology’s almost fiction-like progress, specifically in the last 4 years or so.  Originally coined and defined in 1999 by one of the leading British technologists of the late 20th century – Kevin Ashton – IoT’s full potential has come to recognition only in the current decade.  The fact is it has already mesmerized technology gurus around the world with its most wide application range and scale of improvisations it will bring upon the implemented things. Make no mistake about it! IoT is not only a major technological breakthrough of 2010’s, but it will also shape and impact our future deeply, quite deeply!

The 360-Degree “View” Photography -:

360-degree camera

Now, our readers will definitely know that we are certainly not biased when it comes to talking about other technologies, in a proper order of impact, whether they are related to the main IoT or not. The emergence of 360-degree cameras has taken photography to a whole new level. Take for example the selfie, which now can showcase as a spherical image, capturing each and every dimension with a UHD-quality detail. Gone are the days when you need to set up various cameras to capture different angles of a single object, or alternatively you have to buy a highly expensive camera to do the same job single-handedly. The new 360-degrees sharp and compact “shooters” will make your photography a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Smart of Things -:

smart technology

You should not get hysteric after reading the above heading; I just did a little creative curve 😊. But frankly, the “Smart” technology is far more creative and impacting then our sub-heading cliché above. Certainly, powered by the great IoT technology, smart technology is a technique which enables any connected device to act automatically and intelligently according to a given situation. Few examples are smart home appliances, smart vehicles, smart ATM’s, smart watches, smart cities, and etc. Make no mistake about it; smart technology is going to lead in all spheres of activities in the future.

The Drones -:

Despite being one of the oldest technology talked of on this page, drones have only come to true maturation in the current decade in which they have found a wide variety of application. Drones are already in-use by the American military in war-zones (which gets much criticism) but these autonomous flying machines have other remarkable benefits as well. For example, drones are now started to be used in agricultural development, security surveillance, and even for in-the-air transportation (or a flying taxi).  With such a rapid growth rate, one can only imagine what drones will come to do in the very near future …?

The Genetic Editing & Coding -:

Genetic editing

Sounds like a “Darwin” thing, no? Well, the revolution which was unleashed by Charles R. Darwin’s Origin of Species almost 150 years ago; little did Darwin could possibly have expected what further revolutionary turn will biological sciences shall have in the early decades of the 21st century. The face of biological science has been revitalized by the great advances happened in the exclusive field of Genetics. This decade let us saw the emergence of intentional “Genomic” editing in the living beings. This is not a “yadda yadda,” intentional genomic editing by the genetic-scientists is already opening up a whole new world of possibilities such as mutating the body chemistry to fight off literally untreatable diseases, or most amazingly; scientists could even end up producing a whole new species out of an existing one. Like I said, possibilities are limitless with biological sciences now.

Virtual Reality (VR) & Augmented Reality (AR) -:

VR and AR

Perhaps one of the most famous technologies to emerge in the decade of 2010’s, both AR and VR are currently at the forefront in “technology” town. Virtual Reality got its first true recognition in the 1970s when an American computer genius Myron Kruger coined the term “artificial reality.” That very same artificial reality becomes the virtual reality of today. Augmented Reality, on the other hand, is a more recent production of the early 1990’s. However, both of these technologies came to a head in the decade of 2010, and that’s what will always be considered the main starting point of these technologies for the rest of times.

Nanotech -:

Properly known as “Nanotechnology,” it is one of the most amazing technological breakthroughs of the current decade. In a simple definition gleefully resides on Wikipedia:

“Nanotechnology (“nanotech”) is manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular level.”

Now, the hard meaning: considering the possibility of engineering complex systems and objects on a “super” molecular level, nanotechnology hits the extreme level of perception, both in being beneficial and destructive (in case of negative usage). The good is, for example, nanomaterials have shown great progress in benefiting medical science applications. On the other hand, the bad could be the breach of privacy when governments might use nanomaterials for surveillance, or more destructive can be the Nano-weapons that are tiny on a molecular level, but their power will be unparalleled by even the most intelligent computers on Earth. Nevertheless, every technology has its “goods” and “bads,” so considering that human intention plays a vital role, nanotechnology is a great advancement of the current decade if we just put it to good use.

True Quantum Computers –:

quantum computers

The second most important hypothesis ever developed in the history physical sciences, the development of Quantum Theory and its “Mechanics” are almost as old as Darwin’s theory of Evolution; over here there is a contribution of many notable scientific minds in world history, unlike the single-handed “Evolution” work. Now, in this glorious decade, and in the very same year of 2017, Quantum-powered computers are finally attaining those unsurmountable powers which were only lightly imagined before. Experiments undergoing at Google, Delft University in Deutschland, Intel, and few other companies, are showing a certain future of mega-super computers which will entirely revolutionize the field of computing. So, keep a watch!

The UE-Solar Power -:

solar power

Don’t misunderstand me! The above “UE” stands for “Ultra-Efficient,” and that’s what the following technology is all about. Again, a technology that first got its modern makeover in the second half of the 1800s, the true potential of UE-Solar Power has just emerged in the 2020’s. Solar power is considered as one of the eco-friendliest technologies, and it will play a crucial part in the conservation of our environment in the future. The technology has just started to show what possibilities it can do; we’ll only have to imagine for the future!

The First-Ever Complete Human “Cell Atlas” -:

human cell atlas

The final great technological breakthrough on my list is the construction of first-ever comprehensively-complete human “Cell Atlas.” It is dubbed as the most ambitious life science project of the decade due to the impact and magnanimity it reaches. This unimaginably huge construction of the entire human cell catalog will contain information about the whopping 37.2 trillion cells in human body. Never such a magnanimous undertaking has been done in the history of medical science. The project will be administered by a team of highly respectable genetic biologists from Israel, U.S., Japan, Sweden, U.K., and the Netherlands. The entire atlas is expected to complete within the next 5 years or so, and it will educate (for the first time) about the entire cellular structure of human body, right from the first to the last cell. Isn’t it amazing?

So, if I have missed any technology in this that you might know about (and I definitely will), please do not forget to enlighten me on that.
